Jose's
performance work is exemplary of genres fusing
at channel surfing speed--where poetic prose collides
with conceptual movement and theater crashes with the
visual arts forming a cauldron of ritual and multiple
voices in an underworld of sardonic humor and human
tragedy channeled by an artist possessed by "Duende."
In effect, his work is one long run on sentence across
the academic terrain of theater/performance, the visual
arts, literature/languages, politics, social studies
and new art in the postmodern matrix.
His performance solos, lectures and workshops have been
presented at institutions such as: Cornell, Duke, Tulane,
Spelman, Dillard, Rutgers, Kalamazoo College, Louisiana State
and the University of Michigan.
